IntegraMed Financial Services

Market research indicates that the potential fertility market is much larger than the actual market. Further, couples who are candidates for fertility treatment but do not pursue treatment or drop out of treatment before achieving an optimal outcome do so because they lack access to the financial resources required - either insurance or available credit. The Company has two programs designed to address this problem: The IntegraMed Financial Services program and the Shared Risk Refund Program.

IntegraMed Treatment Financing

IntegraMed offers, through its network of Affiliated Fertility Centers, the IntegraMed Treatment financing program as a payment option. The Treatment Financing allows patients to select from a full range of payment choices, the option that best suits their financial situation.

Infertility care is unfortunately still an uncovered benefit under many health insurance programs. Some patients, therefore, cannot afford care or have to defer it until they have saved enough to enter treatment.

We are very pleased to be able to offer this program to couples pursuing pregnancy that would otherwise have to postpone, limit, or cancel procedures. We believe that those who want to proceed will now find these payment options to be very convenient and affordable.

Shared Risk Refund Program

The Shared Risk Program is a creative alternative to traditional payment methods for medical services and treatments associated with assisted reproductive technologies (ART). The traditional payment method requires payment for each treatment cycle regardless of outcome.

Patients have expressed concern about the cost of multiple treatment cycles and the uncertainty regarding outcome. In many cases, because of limited financial resources, patients must choose between assisted reproductive technologies and pursuing adoption. The Shared Risk Refund Program is intended to provide an alternative to this difficult choice.

Couples meeting the eligibility requirements may attempt up to three "traditional" IVF cycles for a flat fee paid in advance. When the couple takes a baby home from the hospital, the Company has earned its fee. In the event the attempts are unsuccessful, the majority of the fee is refunded less an administrative component, for each cycle attempted. A couple achieving pregnancy on the first attempt will pay more with this program than traditional fee-for-service payment methods. On the other hand, if all attempts fail, the Company assumes the bulk of the costs. Hence the name, Shared Risk Refund.

Why doesn't everyone offer this program?

This program is not representative of a traditional health care payment plan and has been the subject of debate in the fertility community. Therefore, some Centers elect not to offer it.

Eligibility

IntegraMed provides the administrative structure to allow more couples to access the benefits of Shared Risk Refund. Consumers apply for acceptance on the Company's website. If accepted, the patient pays one lump sum payment to IntegraMed. The Company pays the participating Affiliate Provider group a global fee for each IVF cycle performed. In the event that a refund is required, the Company funds that cost. This structure allows physicians to be paid on a traditional fee for service basis and avoid any potential conflict of interest.
